Chris Heaton re-joined us in 2018, bringing extensive Caterpillar dealership experience gained over the last 20 years in various parts of the world. For someone who started on the tools, Chris says it is fantastic he can now work with the Terra team and customers, utilising the skills he has learnt over the years.
After starting his career at our Nelson branch as an apprentice technician, Chris has worked his way up to significant executive positions with Caterpillar dealerships including 16 years with Trakindo (Indonesian Cat dealer) where he rose to become General Manager Mining – Marketing.
Although most of Chris’s career has been with Caterpillar dealerships and mining customers, Chris has owned his own luxury boat-building business in New Zealand and Australia. This taught him a lot about customer experience.
Chris’s responsibilities at Terra include:
Ensure we operate according to our company procedures and core values
Identifying and developing talent within the business to improve employee and customer outcomes
Work with the team to deliver high levels of customer experience
And of course, there are safety, financial, and compliance responsibilities
Outside of work, Chris enjoys time on his motorbike and working with his wife on their lifestyle block.
