Sime Darby Berhad entered the New Zealand market in 1999 through its acquisition of Continental Car Services Ltd and today has a large range of commercial interests in New Zealand within the transport sector, with two main business divisions; Sime Darby Motors and Sime Darby Industrial. The Gough Group purchase in 2019 gave Sime Darby the rare opportunity to expand in the Asia Pacific region and gain exposure to New Zealand’s construction and forestry sectors. Sime Darby Industrial (SDI) is one of the world leaders in the heavy equipment business. Its partnership with Caterpillar Inc (Cat), spanning over 90 years, has continued to grow and strengthen since 1929. Ranked among the world’s largest Cat dealer groups, SDI also represents other world-renowned premium brands including New Holland, Terberg, and Perkins. Sime Darby Industrial’s core businesses are in the sale and rental of heavy equipment and power systems, providing after-sales product support, and developing innovative industrial solutions for customers in the mining, construction, power generation, forestry, marine, agriculture, material handling and oil & gas sectors.
